Dr. Dre just filed a lawsuit against Death Row Records claiming he hasn't received royalties from hip hop classic 'The Chronic' in over 14 years!
Wondering why he didn't file this suit 13 years ago? Could it be that Death Row Records has new owners and that if he'd filed while Suge Knight was still at the helm he'd have found himself hanging over a balcony by his feet?
I vote yes. Good luck with that Dre!

An Arab ambassador called for an instant divorce after discovering his veil-wearing fiancée had a beard and was cross-eyed.
The would-be bride had hidden her face behind a Muslim niqab throughout their short courtship, meaning the diplomat had no idea what she looked like.
But as soon as the marriage was contract was signed in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, he tried to kiss her, before coming face-to-face with her hairy face and strange squint.
‘He was absolutely horrified,’ said a wedding guest.
‘The bride had a nice personality, but there was a good reason why she was hiding her looks behind a veil.
‘A divorce was inevitable, and the groom went straight to court leaving his new bride in floods of tears.’
The unnamed ambassador, who is in his 40s and has worked all over the world, including in Paris, told an Islamic Sharia court that he was tricked into the arranged marriage, Dubai’s official government newspaper reported.
He claimed the woman’s parents sent his own mother and and father pictures of her far more attractive sister.
A legal source said: ‘Every time the couple met, the bride would do her best hide her entire face.
‘The woman, who is a physician, was very keen to marry him, as she had had very few suitors, even though she’s well into her 30s.’
This is why we would suggest knowing the person well before you make these decisions...

‘Ah de real thing’ may soon be ringing out on radio in dance halls and homes nationwide as Jory gears to release his first mix-tape at the Mash weekend. His adviser Kerwin Bollers of Hits and Jams said the quiet but talented sing-jay will give another side of his persona lyrically and through some professionally snapped photos out of the Aubrey Photo Studios.
This publication has happened upon some of the unedited versions of the photographs and we hasten to say that it borders on gruesome as it depicts the reality that Guyanese musicians are forced to endure.
He spends most of his days fighting fires but one can but imagine the imagery created that sees him spiting lyrical fire by the Sophia kid who knows how to hype up any party scene in or out doors. Taking his career to another level Jory recently joined forces with entertainer Kerwin Bollers and his fans can look out for the release of his first mixed tape.
Jory said “My tape will feature me free-styling on some of the hottest dancehall, hip hop, reggae and pop tracks that showcase Jory the singer/ entertainer singing about life and reality”.
Titled ‘say what me want fuh say’ the recordings were done with insight from entertainer Kerwin Bollers who has to some degree taken on Jory’s management. “This is part of an arrangement we made to better my chances of becoming a more marketable artiste while taking local entertainment to the next level”, Jory said.
Jory Hector, age 26 is a professional fireman and says he has already completed all of the songs for the free style tape and is again reiterating the need for persons to buy the original versions. “Its mainly a free style mixed tape where I don’t sit and write I just let the lyrics flow sharing my thoughts on real life stories that basically say what I want to say,” Jory Said.
Being a Guyanese artiste with big dreams to one day make the big time, this release to him, will hopefully be his breakthrough to the main stream of the Caribbean music scene.
Jory’s most recent live performance saw him getting even more forward than Jamaican sensations Charlie Black and Mad Dog at eth national park as part of the Hits and Jams Mash Crank Up show.
On Christmas night 2009 he performed at the National Stadium as the main opening act for Busy Signal and created quite the hype that by far out weighted any response received by local acts at an international show.
He has performed at almost every major venue in Guyana to rave reviews and several years ago as part of Natural Black’s birthday celebrations, he also sang in Jamaica as a member of the Brutal Jammers band to celebratory applauses.
“It was as if I were their own and looking back to me I have come to realize that after performing as an opening act for many international shows that featured stars like Busy Signal, Natural Black, Bounty Killer, Mavado, Peetah Morgan, Vegas and other I believe that I have the hype just like them and so I’m basically trying out my wings to see how far I can fly this year with the help of entertainer Kerwin Bollers”, Jory said.
As he launches into his new ideas and new affiliations for 2010 he is advising his fans to “Look out for ‘say what I want to say’ mix tape coming soon and other singles will follow.” Amidst rumors that might fly because of his new business affiliation he said “No me and Brutal tracks have no beef but I’m just doing my thing differently this year”.
Of the local music industry he reiterates that there is need for more unity in the industry “…we need to work together for the sake of the industry”. He added that artistes need to move away from cliques and people who seek to cause friction so they can record at any studio.
He further said that artistes need to start respecting the elders who continue to fight for the development of the industry. Some of his past hits are Jory, last bad boy, and of recent Mr. Limpy and the contagious ‘Limpy Dip’ that introduces a new dance style.

Merundoi needs Street theatre actors
The popular radio serial drama, Merundoi, that teaches ‘choice and change’ and focuses on ‘Life’s realities’ is currently auditioning for actors for its Street theatre programme at its head office.
Persons are trained on a yearly basis to do deliver forum theatre: as a form of interactive theatre where trained actors deliver messages in drama and interact directly with the audience.
Merundoi senior Reinforcement Officer, Durwin Humphrey, said the street theatre company does nationwide tours, delivering various messages. However while Merundo the radio serial drama focuses mainly on HIV/Aids related messages the street theatre focuses on other social and health related issues.
The audition is a prelude to the third workshop that starts from next Tuesday and will conclude on January 11. Humphrey said the on going auditions are open to persons age 18-40 and will conclude on Monday. “We are looking for twenty who will become a permanent part of the Merundoi Street Theatre Company. Once selected and trained they will be travel opportunities across Guyana”.
Explaining why the need for street theatre company Humphrey said based on research the Merundoi NGO has found that street theatre is a unique vehicle for delivering behaviour change intervention.
He added that the forum theatre allows persons to examine their personal issues that might be social or health related through dramatisation of actors who offer possible solutions without that person actually having to share their story. It’s another form of therapy that serves to facilitate the development of life skills and choices.
Since training began in November 2008 to date 45 persons have been trained in street theatre and they are actively involved in detaining Guyanese communities.
“The effort to train is aimed at expanding the company to offer more opportunities to tackle the many social and health related issues that are affecting the Guyanese populace,” Humphrey said.
The contagious Merundoi has become a talking point that can be heard on radios, in offices and even on the street is focussed on the environment, social and other health issues.
Merundoi, with popular stage personality, Margaret Lawrence, has completed more than 300 episodes and has been on the air since October 16, 2006.
Just over a year ago Merundoi evolved from being a project into being a registered NGO.

Somebody say Machal for Mash, GSB.com has caught wind of a report confirming that Macheal Montana and his HD band will be in Guyana to celebrate Guyana’s 40th Republic Anniversary.

Machel Montano and HD Band to headline concert H&J Mash night Mega concert
Come February 23, 2010 all roads lead to the Georgetown Cricket club ground Bourda for the hits and Jams second annual mash mega concert.
Last year the show featured Bennie man, Maxi priest Sherwayne Winchester, Biggie ire, Peter ram, Serani. This year the show will be much bigger featuring Machael Montano and his HD band comprising Farmer nappy, Patrice Roberts and Zann.
They have already signed contracts and will definitely add the high energy soca hype to the Mash night activities.
This is in keeping with a promise Machael made when he performed in Guyana as part of the Hits and Jam Jamzone Summer Break Weekend Soca show at the National Stadium.
From a line up of 13 contestants Kuru Kururu resident Tennisia DeFreitas age 18 of the Kross Kolor Records Studios copped the Junior Calypso monarchy on(Saturday) at the National Cultural Centre.
Donning a maternity dress and mimicking the attitudes of a pregnant woman hers was an emotion stirring rendition of a baby giving reasons why it did not want to come into the world.
Skilfully penned by veteran musician Burchmoore Simon, the song tackled real local issues affecting and influencing the nation’s youth. Its hook was contagious and Defreitus’ delivery as ‘a sixteen-year- old single parent with child’ was superb. As she sang “I don’t want to be born” many eyes in the audience welled up while others shed tears as did the performer.
The song spoke of a sense of despair of the numbers who graduate from UG only to find no jobs at the other end there are many dropouts who simply lime on the road. It also painted a vivid picture of the many gunmen on the roam and those who seem destined to be like the notorious bandit “Fineman” or “a king pin like Roger Khan.” The baby through its mother’s eyes is adamant that it does not want to be born because of what it has experienced through its mothers eyes. “Mama I don’t want to be born because you dark they treat you with scorn…” because she was treated with scorn because of her dark skin.
It also touches on the missing monies from GRA and the pain that many felt when Clico could not account for people’s savings.
“Mama I don’t want to be born all we nurse and teacher they gone mama I don’t want to be born…” the songs lamented”.
The song slammed the opposition for being paid to do nothing and shared a dream of a President who came home to lime and is flying out all the time and in one verse it “drugs passing through Timehri and none of the scanners they don’t see…”
The teary eyed winner’s next is next scheduled to perform at the Mash HIV Song competition on February 13 at Blairmont where she will face off with more senior calypsonians. But based on the audience responses she will be one to contend with.
Her song on that occasion will be ‘wrap it up’. She placed third last year when she sang ‘texting.’
The second and third spots went to Lindeners Diana Chapman age 18 and Laquita Pryce age 17 respectively. Chapma, graduate of the MackenZie High an actress who was among the actors in the “king of the drums” Movie sang that “abstinence makes sense.” Pryce a graduate of the New Silver City Secondary with ten subjects at the CXC sang “Give me a chance to be a child.” Backed by the Mingles sound machine the other competitors included Quincy Richmond, Jedidah Wilkinson, Ernesta Nelson, Laurent Pieters, Kelton Jennings, Nickesha London, Keiton Nelson, Yoland Nedd, Derk Simon and Leshauna Valentine.
The show was hosted by Mondale Smith and included performances from the North Ruimveldt Multilateral School Steel orchestra, The National School of dance and rising star ten-year-old Jovinski Thorne who proved that he is not “too young” to be a star. The other performers included the Shalita Dance Troupe, the Dance Fanatics and the Theatre Guild dramatists as well as Kurt Walcott. There was also some masquerade showcases.
Based on comments from the audience this years show was by far the best in recent years and according to Sean Bhola who was one of the judges “ these youths proved that Calypso will live on despite. Some of them were more prepared and could easily put some of the seniors to shame.”
