All roads lead to the Roraima Duke Lodge this (Saturday) where a promise of high definition sound from live performances and all out partying to quality Guyanese et al vibes is on the offer from Adrian Dutchin and Jumo Primo.
Known as X2 (times two) after five years, many singles, touring the world with Byron Lee and the Dragonaires and Kross Fyah and winning three Guyana Accolade Music Awards the duo’s album featuring sixteen tracks is done and ready for launch with a mega party.
Under management from veteran musician Burchmore Simon and his Kross Kolor label the duo said “we are ready to give Guyanese a full album as a prelude to heading to Europe in 2010”.
The album sponsored and endorsed by Digicel Guyana is set for launch at the Roraima Duke Lodge, Kingston with sponsorship from Banks DIH, HJtv, In da mix etc. Yesterday Simon assured that “the new songs on the album will eclipse the pass hits.”
Planned as a mega event, the artistes will be entertaining live with songs from the ‘Kross roads’ album live. “Ladies come expecting an energetic evening with mixed up moods that cater to the people who want soca, R&B etc, etc,” promised Jumo rubber waist. The new album features songs including let's rock, you are the one, in meh blood, Wucka man, krazy, over you, slow wine, Push it back, Belly dancer, they don’t know, let’s party, tick tock, whole wine and redd in genres of pop, dance, reggae dancehall and soca. However Simon said “it is produced in a combination that says it is uniquely Guyanese but done at the international standards.” Simon who doubles as the produced the said too that “on Saturday fans will experience the versatility that has distinguished X2 as star performers at this party and the first 100 patrons will walk away with a free CD.”
Digicel’s Marketing Director Donavon White endorsing the duo and the album commends there strides and said the duo exemplifies the qualities that his company stands for.
“They have been around with sponsorship since Umobile remain even with the transition to Digicel because these guys are real, dynamic, ever evolving and ever advancing and that’s what our company is about so they have our unwavering support,” White said. He also encourages local music fans to come to the launch and then go out and buy the original CD to support the development of the music industry. “Go buy an original CD and stop making copies so that the guys and the local industry can further advance,” he admonished.
In 2008 the duo won several Accolade Music Awards for Video of the Year, Soca Single of the Year and Song of the Year and they are again nominated in several categories for 2009 awards. That event has been shifted to December. In addition, Adrian Dutchin won several crystals on his own.
The duo whom some described as the ones who started the local music and videos revolution are popular for hits such as Krazy, Tick Tac, Push it back, In Meh Blood, Hands up, Half Wine and I ain’t Leaving.
Inside information is that the entertainers with fans at home and abroad will be more focussed on making their X2 brand bigger in the European market and have been spotted by producers in Europe.
Dutchin has been outstanding since he left the group 'Seven' and became a signed artiste with Kross Kolor Records. His most notable achievement has been the winning of the Carib Soca Monarch Three times and is at present undefeated since he has taken some time off from the competition. Word is that he is contemplating a return to the competition next year. He has written and performed many popular songs including the immensely popular ‘Impossible’ soca hit.
Jumo Primo aka Rubber Waist, the other half of X2 has been a member of Byron Lee and The Dragonaires for more than six years and has developed a reputation for energetic as well as sensual performances that leave many in awe especially those of the female persuasion.
The duo endorses Digicel Guyana and has been supported by a host of other companies.
