In a study of men with fertility problems, daily ejaculation for a week cut the amount of DNA damage seen in sperm samples.
Speaking at a fertility conference, the Australian researcher said general advice for couples had been to have sex every two or three days.
Early results from the trial had already shown promising results.
But 118 men have now been tested and the benefits for sperm have become clearer.
Dr David Greening, from Sydney IVF, told delegates at the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology meeting that eight in ten men taking part showed a 12% drop in sperm DNA damage after the seven days.
Although there was a big drop in sperm numbers from 180 million to 70 million over the week, men were still within the normal "fertile" range.
Sperm also became more active over the seven days with a small rise in motility, he added.
Damage
The theory is the longer sperm hang around in the testes the more likely they are to accumulate DNA damage and the warm environment could also make them more sluggish after a while.
Sperm come under attack by free radicals - small reactive molecules which can damage DNA and cause cell death - in the tube that stores and carries sperm away from the testes.
Further work is needed to work out if daily sex for men without fertility problems has the same benefits but Dr Greening believes it is likely to be the case.
He warns that having daily sex for too long - say a fortnight - would probably cut sperm numbers too much.
But recommended "lots of sex daily" around the time the woman is ovulating.
He said it was best to "keep the river flowing".
As men age they may not have as much sex as they did when they were younger, adding to the problem of infertility, Dr Greening told delegates.
"We are designed to breed in our youth.
"Perhaps we have been blaming the women as couples get older but perhaps there's a contribution from the male because we're not behaving as we should be."
The findings may also have implications for couples undergoing IVF as men are commonly told to abstain from sex for a couple of days to try and boost sperm numbers.
Dr Alan Pacey, a fertility expert at the University of Sheffield, said the finding that daily ejaculation improved the chances of conception was interesting, but it would be wrong to apply the results to all men.
"For example, in cases where men have low sperm counts to start with, daily ejaculations may well reduce the sperm count still further and whilst sperm may be more healthy the reduced numbers could impede the chance of natural conception.
"The best general advice is that if couples are attempting to conceive naturally, intercourse every couple of days will make sure the sperm are as healthy as possible on each occasion.
"However, in preparation for IVF or ICSI treatment, this advice may well change in response to medical test results like DNA damage measurements."
Private and public funerals have been set for the late Michael Jackson, according to CNN.His body will return to his Neverland Ranch for a public viewing on Friday, CNN reports. (Jackson's brothers Jackie, Jermaine and Tito visited the grounds over the weekend and a delivery truck was spotted there Tuesday dropping off boxes.)
A private memorial service is slated for Sunday, according to CNN.There is still no word on where Jackson will be buried, but his hometown of Gary, Ind., is hoping the family to send him there.
"I believe that his body will lie in state in Gary, Ind.," Gary Mayor Rudy Clay told Chicago radio station WGN Tuesday. "Now, it may not happen, but I believe it will."
At the very least, Clay said he hopes Jackson's body will be taken to Gary for a July 10 memorial service at U.S. Steel Works ballpark.
The memorial would be "fit for the prince of peace and a memorial that's fit for Gary, Indiana's favorite son, the greatest entertainer that ever lived."
Gary officials may even propose that that the singer be buried near a proposed Jackson family museum and a performing arts center, Clay's spokeswoman Lalosa Burns said.
"The mayor had spoken with a contact of the Jackson family and expressed our interest in having that to be a part of the history of this great family," Burns said. "We have not received confirmation on that."
On Tuesday, fans gathered for a public tribute to Jackson at Harlem's Apollo Theater, where the singer performed as a child.
Jackson died at age 50 June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest.

A new version of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me" featuring Jon Bon Jovi and exiled Iranian singer Andy Madadian, which is making the rounds as an online video, is meant to send "a musical message of worldwide solidarity" to the Iranian people in the wake of the country's controversial recent election, according to co-producer Don Was. The session, which took place June 24 in Los Angeles, was spurred by a conversation that Was had with Madadian about "whether there was something we could do just to send out a little message of solidarity, remembering the '60s, believing music can change things." When they arrived to record the song, they found Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora and John Shanks, who's producing their next album, sitting outside and having lunch.
"It is not for sale," Was says. "It wasn't intended to be on the charts, wasn't meant to be a hit record or even pressed on a CD. It's intended to be downloaded and shared by the Iranian people. Two weeks before he died, Michael Jackson wrapped up work on an elaborate production dubbed the "Dome Project" that could be the final finished video piece overseen by the King of Pop, The Associated Press has learned. Jackson was apparently preparing to dazzle concert audiences in London with a high-tech show in which 3D images — some inspired by his "Thriller" era — would flash behind him as he performed on stage. "It was a groundbreaking effort," said Vince Pace, whose company provided cameras for the shoot, a 3D system he created with filmmaker James Cameron. "To think that Michael's gone now, that's probably the last documented footage of him to be shot in that manner," Pace said. They said it was a five-week project filmed at Culver Studios, which 70 years ago was the set for the classic film "Gone With the Wind." Four sets were constructed for Jackson's production, including a cemetery recalling his 1983 "Thriller" video. With 3D technology "the audience would have felt like they were visiting the 'Thriller' experience, like they were there," Pace said. Shooting for the project lasted from June 1-9, with Jackson on the set most days. The project was in post-production, at the time of Jackson's death, and had been expected to be completed next month. It was not immediately clear what would be made of the video footage now. Producer Robb Wagner, founder of music-video company Stimulated Inc., did not immediately return a message seeking comment on the project. Michael Roth, a spokesman for Jackson's Los Angeles-based promoter AEG Live, said he hadn't heard about the production but did not rule that it could be part of the company's contract with the entertainer. According to one of the people with knowledge of the project, a willow-thin, pallid Jackson left a memorable impression on the crew, arriving in a caravan of SUVs with hulking security guards in tow. LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson's family wants an independent autopsy to determine the cause of the King of Pop's death, The Rev. Jesse Jackson said Saturday.The family told Jesse Jackson about its wishes while he spent time with them during the past two days, the reverend said in an interview with The Associated Press.
He said there were unanswered questions surrounding the death, including the role of the personal cardiologist who was with Michael Jackson when he died.
The Los Angeles County coroner's office performed an autopsy on the singer's body on Friday but deferred a finding on the cause of death pending further tests that could take more than a month.
Coroner's officials said they released Michael Jackson's body to his family late Friday night. Jesse Jackson did not say if an independent autopsy had been arranged.
Spiritual teacher and medical doctor Deepak Chopra said earlier Saturday he had been concerned since 2005 that Michael Jackson was abusing prescription painkillers and most recently spoke to the pop star about suspected drug use six months ago.
Chopra said Jackson, a longtime friend, asked him for painkillers in 2005 when the pop star was staying with him following his trial on sex abuse allegations.
Chopra said he refused but added the nanny of Jackson's children repeatedly contacted him with concerns about Jackson's drug use over the next four years.
Janet Jackson arrived at her brother's Holmby Hills estate Saturday, where moving vans pulled up earlier in the day and about eight movers took dollies and packing equipment through the gates.
The vans left after being inside the estate for almost an hour, and it wasn't immediately known what had been taken out.Most of Jackson's family members were at the Encino compound, where they were contemplating funeral arrangements and caring for his three children.
They are feeling confused, upset and angry by the lack of information about those who were around the pop superstar in his final days, a person close to the family said.
Jackson's family also wants to know more specifics about what role AEG, the concert promoter that was staging his 50-date concert series at London's 02 Arena, was playing in his life, said the person, who requested anonymity because of the delicate nature of the situation.
They also want to know more about the role of his advisers and representatives, who they believe were put in place by the promoter.
AEG spokeswoman Natalie Whorms in London had no comment.
Jackson never communicated to his family who he had in place to handle his business affairs, the person said, adding that they were told by the singer's phalanx of advisers that he likely had a will, but it may be many years old. The family is distrustful of what they are being told — but are determined to find out more, the person said.
"There are decisions going down without the family being in the loop; it's becoming an issue," the person said.
Randy Phillips, AEG Live president and chief executive, said Friday it was Jackson who insisted that Dr. Conrad Murray, a financially troubled cardiologist who was with the entertainer when he collapsed Thursday, be put on the tour payroll.
"As a company, we would have preferred not having a physician on staff full-time because it would have been cheaper without the hotels and travel, but Michael was insistent that he be hired," Phillips said. "Michael said he had a rapport with him."
Houston lawyer William M. Stradley said his firm had been hired by Murray.
Jackson collapsed Thursday at his rented home in Los Angeles. Police seized Murray's car in search of evidence but have insisted that the doctor has been cooperative and do not consider him a criminal suspect.
Records reveal years of financial troubles for Murray, who practices medicine in California, Nevada and Texas; his Nevada medical practice, Global Cardiovascular Associates, was slapped with more than $400,000 in court judgments, and he faces at least two other pending cases and several tax liens.
The person close to the family said that while there were reports that the singer was distant from his family, Jackson spoke with his mother, Katherine, quite regularly and his father, Joe, had seen his son shortly before his death.
His other eight siblings, including fellow superstar Janet, may not have talked to him recently but were not estranged.
The pop star left behind three children: Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., known as Prince Michael, 12; Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael II, 7. The elder children were born to ex-wife Deborah Rowe, while the youngest is his biological son, born to a surrogate mother.
Rowe and Jackson married in 1996 and divorced in 1999.
No family members were present in the mansion when Jackson died Thursday, the person close to the family said. In the call to the emergency dispatcher released by fire officials Friday, an unidentified caller tells a dispatcher that Jackson's doctor is performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Asked by the dispatcher whether anyone saw what happened, the caller answers: "No, just the doctor, sir. The doctor has been the only one there."
The family is still trying to determine what kind of memorial to have for Jackson and when, and are debating between the idea of having a private ceremony or a grand celebration open to the public, the person close to the family said.
Jackson appeared to have suffered a heart attack, another person with knowledge of the situation who was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity. A heart attack is a blocking of the arteries that deprives the heart of adequate blood and can cause cardiac arrest.
Jackson's brother Jermaine has said it was believed the pop singer went into cardiac arrest, an interruption of the normal heartbeat that can be caused by factors other than a heart attack.
The coroner's office said there were no signs of foul play or trauma.
Phillips said AEG Live held multiple insurance policies covering cancellation of the shows, and that some time in February Jackson submitted to several hours of physicals that the insurance underwriter insisted upon, and that Jackson passed them all.
"We had pretty good coverage, but a lot of it is going to depend on the toxicology results," he said. "We need to know what the cause of death was."

Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Usher are all paying homage to the King of Pop. Neither one of them strangers to the strangest of headlines.Beyoncé called Jackson’s death a “tragic loss” on a “terrible day.” “The incomparable Michael Jackson has made a bigger impact on music than any other artist in the history of music,” the 27-year-old singer said. “He was magic. He was what we all strive to be. He will always be the King of Pop! “Life is not about how many breaths you take, but about how many moments in life that take your breath away. For anyone who has ever seen, felt, or heard his art, we are all honored to have been alive in this generation to experience the magic of Michael Jackson. I love you Michael.”
And the proof of Jackson’s tremendous influence on the next generation of music makers didn’t stop there.

“I would not be the artist, performer, and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael. I have great admiration and respect for Him and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to meet and perform with such a great entertainer, who in so many ways, transcended the culture. After hearing the devastating news of Michael Jackson's death, and knowing that the BET Awards are only days away from us many are asking one questions such as, will there be a tribute to the King of Pop?
Well we all know the answer to that already, but the big question of all is Who could really do an MJ tribute that does the world's greatest entertainer justice? Chris Brown, of course......Anticipating at least a video montage, we know that the BET team is most likely scrambling to include some sort of performance in the King of Pop's honor.
However, with the perilous months that Brown has experienced, he is hardly in anyone's good graces. Celeb or not. But, could a performance of monumental proportions begin to heal the wounds of disappointment and anger that our little golden boy administered in February. Think back to the 2007 World Music Awards where Brown performed an amazing rendition of MJ's Thriller, along with impromptu performances at previous BET award shows that left us speechless.
There's no doubt that Brown needs something to catapult him back into the super-stardom that he was once accustomed to. The world is hurting, especially us Black folk that literally grew up on the Jackson Five and MJ hits. We need to see that his legacy lives on. Many people, some indifferent, some disgruntled, claim that they would like to see Brown do a performance at the awards show which airs on Sunday.
Are we ready to forgive Chris Brown? Although we disagree with his actions and definitely believe that he has more crow to eat, this is a moment to take to the spotlight and do us proud. Somebody go get that jacket from the cleaners and buy back that glove. There's work to be done. R.I.P Michael.

GSB just caught wind of a report That the Legendary King of Pop has died. At the age of 50Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.
Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.
Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.
Even though he hasn't been the huge star he was at the peak of his career he will be missed.

A U.S. destroyer was trailing a North Korean ship off the coast of China that was allegedly transporting illicit weapons, which could potentially lead to the first test of U.N. approval to go after the nation for an underground nuclear test they conducted last month.
The new U.N. Security Council resolution requires member states to seek permission to inspect suspicious cargo, reports the Associated Press. North Korea has said it would consider interception a declaration of war and on Wednesday accused the U.S. of provoking another Korean War.
"If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will ... wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all," the government operated Korean Central News Agency said.
In response to U.N disapproval of that test, North Korea abandoned nuclear disarmament talks and warned it would fire a long-range missile.
North Korea also created an agenda to prohibit ships from the waters off its east coast starting Thursday through July 10 for military exercises, Japan's Coast Guard said.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported Wednesday that the North may fire a Scud missile with a range of up to 310 miles (500 kilometers) or a short-range ground-to-ship missile with a range of 100 miles (160 kilometers) during the no-sail period.
A senior South Korean government official said the no-sail ban is likely connected to North Korean's agenda to fire short- or mid-range missiles.
U.S. defense and counterproliferation officials in Washington said they also expected the North to launch short- to medium-range missiles. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence.
South Korea has suggested high-level " consultations to negotiate North Korea with the U.S. China and Japan.

Popular online music store iTunes has So Fine charting in those five nations but it is void on the US online charts. Reports are, however, that the single should be made available in the US within the next two weeks.

SEATTLE - In the week since Microsoft Corp. launched Bing, its new search engine, the software maker's share of U.S. Web searches has crept into double digits for the first time in two years.But Bing's early gain is no predictor of future success. After all, the last time that happened, Microsoft had resorted to paying people to use Bing's predecessor, known as Live Search (live.com).
Bing went live June 3, though some people had access earlier. According to a report Tuesday from research group comScore Inc., Microsoft snagged 11.1 percent of U.S. searches from June 2 to June 6. A week earlier, its share was 9.1 percent.
That still leaves Microsoft a distant third behind Google Inc., which was used for more than 60 percent of searches in April, and Yahoo Inc., which topped 20 percent. ComScore did not release more recent figures for those companies.
Search traffic is key because advertisers who place pitches alongside search results will pay more to reach a larger audience. This is the key to Google's profits, while Microsoft's online business is losing money.
Microsoft has tried several tactics to narrow the gap with Google, including the drawn-out but unsuccessful attempt to buy Yahoo.
In June 2007, Microsoft launched the "Live Search Club," a Web site where people could play games, rack up points and redeem them for prizes. Every move in an anagram game or a crossword puzzle would kick off a search on Microsoft's site.
That month, Microsoft's U.S. search share jumped to 12.2 percent, from 9.5 percent in May 2007, according to comScore. But by October 2007 it had fallen below 10 percent. And it remained there until Bing's heavily promoted launch last week.
Microsoft had no comment on the new analysis from comScore.

Well it's bout time da Glambert come clean, and he did. In answering all the rumors and speculations of bloggers around the world, So this week, Adam Lambert's salivatingly-awaited, serpentine-accessorized Rolling Stone cover issue comes out. And I mean that literally. Yes, it's in this RS interview that Adam comes out of his fabulously appointed, leather-pants-filled closet to announce what all the world already knew: That he is gay. "I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I'm gay," Adam correctly states, adding: "I'm proud of my sexuality. I embrace it." (As if there was ever ANYTHING about Adam Lambert's public persona that seemed shy or self-effacing!)Yeah, yeah, I know--not so shocking. Not nearly as shocking as Lambert losing on Idol, really. It's not like Adam ever even slightly denied that he is homosexual. This is a guy who, on the most exciting Idol finale ever, not only performed in drag-queen-supplied Bob Mackie angel wings and platform Kiss boots from his "private collection," but also took on the Freddie Mercury role for the gay-rights Queen anthem "We Are The Champions," after all.
But Adam's sexuality was likely something he wasn't allowed to officially discuss before now (past gay Idol contestants like R.J. Helton, Jim Verrarros, and Danny Noriega have all publicly claimed that the show ordered them to keep mum regarding their sexual orientation--how very "don't ask, don't tell," huh?). Or frankly, his sexuality just wasn't something he felt was necessary to discuss within the context of the Idol competition.
As Adam says in his RS interview: "I was worried that [coming out] would be so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing. I'm an entertainer, and who I am and what I do in my personal life is a separate thing."
However, media attention regarding Adam's personal life has only intensified since AmIdol wrapped up last month, from the jillion tabloid photos of him holding hands with reported boyfriend Drake Labry, to the jillion outcries from gay groups and, um, Perez Hilton demanding that he officially come out and shout, "I AM GAY!" through a glittery, rainbow-striped bullhorn. Such public pressure seems odd, since it's not like anyone ever insisted that Taylor Hicks or David Cook hold press conferences to state on the record: "Hey everybody, I dig women." Go figure.
But anyway, now that Adam has finally addressed all the speculation and the "pink elephant" in the room, in his characteristically flashy and flamboyant manner (just LOOK at that cover photo!), I sincerely hope everyone can just move on and remember what an amazing and unique talent he is. Hopefully, by the time Adam's debut album comes out later this year, the public focus will be back on the important stuff: you know, his music, his voice, his nail polish, his awesome hair, his guyliner, etc. Anything but his gayness.
If that turns out to be the case, and this Rolling Stone cover story--which hits newsstands only a few weeks after Adam's Idol season, as opposed to the six long years it took for Clay Aiken to come out on the cover of People--finally puts all the gay gossip to bed (so to speak), then this is a very shrewd career move. But I will admit that I'm worried it could be a career-killer. I had the same worries when that splashy Entertainment Weekly "Is He Gay?" cover story came out only a week or so before the Idol finale, fearing that it would ruin Adam's chances. I'm still not sure it didn't...
Yes, I know that almost immediately after Adam lost on Idol, the show's powers-that-be went into PC spin-control overdrive, emphatically asserting that his shocking second-place finish had simply come down to a matter of the public's musical taste, and that it had absolutely nothing to do with religion, sexuality, or politics. Except...it probably DID. Let's be real, now.
"It shouldn't matter. Except it does. It's really confusing," Adam tells Rolling Stone.Okay, okay. I am sure there were several other reasons why Adam lost on American Idol. I do deeply want to believe that--as Ryan Seacrest also hoped out loud on Late Night With Conan O'Brien last Friday--the majority of Americans simply voted for the Idol contestant whose SINGING they liked best, not whose lifestyle they approved of most. But while it would be overly cynical to assume that Adam's rumored homosexuality (and by "rumored," I mean "completely assumed due to widely circulated, Bill O'Reilly-criticized photos of him smooching other pretty-boys in drag") was the main reason he didn't win, it would also be naive to assume that it wasn't a factor at all. Did the EW story, however well-intentioned (it was penned by openly gay, very respected journalist Mark Harris), make matters worse? I don't know.
I just hope this Rolling Stone article (in which Adam even controversially confesses a Kris Allen crush, saying, "He's the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty, and totally my type--except that he has a wife") helps more than it hurts. I don't want Adam to forever be known as just the "Gay Idol." He's so much more than that.
In the end, we'll just have to wait to tally Adam's album sales figures to see if this tell-all article was a turn-off to more conservative record-buyers, or if it indeed refocused the attention on Adam's music. Most successful openly gay celebrities--Elton John, Rosie O'Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, George Michael, even Clay Aiken--have only come out well into their careers, after developing such strong fanbases that they could afford to lose a few fairweather fans put off by the news of their homosexuality. But Adam, possibly the bravest and boldest Idol contestant ever, faces a unique challenge by (as Kara DioGuardi recently worded it on The View) pretty much being out from the beginning.
I just hope unapologetic statements in Rolling Stone like "I've been living in Los Angeles for eight years as a gay man" don't make it even harder for closed-minded people to accept Adam.
And although Adam insists in his Rolling Stone interview, "I'm trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader," I still hope that--as Adam so passionately sang during Idol finale week--a "Change Is Gonna Come" in this country, and that this article is a start.
And so it was written that North Ruimveldt would sweep Wortmanville/Werk-en-Rust in their best of three finals to retain their Georgetown Inter-Ward Basketball Championship. They did it in style by blowing them out by 26 points (85-59) and cashing in on the tournament’s $500,000.Wortmanville/Werk-en-Rust showed little resistance and at times none whatever as, from jump ball, Andrew ‘Mr. Dunk’ Ifill scored the first four points of the game hitting back-to-back jumpers.
Player/coach of the Wortmanville/Werk-en-Rust team Naylon Loncke, attempted to put some pressure on Ifill (who literally made his opponents appear woeful throughout the tournament) by placing Paul Mendonca on him and also adding a little double team with centre Royston Siland helping out.But this only made things easier for the North team who swung the ball well for easy shots.Loncke told Stabroek Sport after the game that maybe his players were still recovering from their narrow defeat in the previous game and he called it right considering their lacklustre performance.
The North team led 17-9 at the end of the first period and things only got worse as once again Ifill showed why he is deemed unstoppable, scoring eight of his 10 shots from the floor. It was decorated with some smooth fade-away jumpers, and he also lived up to his sobriquet by throwing down some massive dunks.
His run, coupled with the good team chemistry, highlighted North Ruimveldt’s first half which ended with the eventual champions leading 46-27.
The third quarter saw a more purposeful type of basketball from Wortmanville/ Werk-en-Rust with Loncke and Siland leading the way. However, North Ruimveldt closed the penultimate period 61-47 and it was so close but yet so far as North made the 14 points deficit look impossible for their opponents to wipe off.
Ifill sat out almost the entire third quarter and immediately made his presence felt in the final period, opening with a jumper over Siland who was having one of his worse nights of the tournament.
The tide never really turned for the losers in the game and the North players looked like winners all the way.
As a matter of fact, the team played with a swagger that even trickled down to their supporters, some of whom had walked with a broom to the Sports Hall to signify a clean sweep of the series.
Ifill scored a game high 26 points with 10 of 21 shooting from the floor and he also grabbed eight rebounds, two blocked shots, five steals and one assist. Ryan Stephney also had a fruitful night on the court, netting 15 points and picking up three steals.
Quincy Jones and Damien Liverpool once again controlled the boards while finishing with 10 and 11 points respectively.
For the losers, only Loncke and Aubrey Smith touched double figures, each scoring 12 points. Siland could only manage seven points but grabbed nine rebounds in the process.
Wortmanville/Werk-en-Rust had to settle for $300,000.
In the third place play-off, Charlestown Albouystown defeated South Ruimveldt and got the $100,000 prize.

If this were a movie, nobody would believe it: A rancher struggling to eke out a living in one of the poorest corners of America claimed one of the biggest undivided jackpots in U.S. lottery history Friday — $232 million — after buying the ticket in a town by the name of Winner.Neal Wanless, 23, said he intends to buy himself more room to roam and repay the kindness other townspeople have shown his family. "I want to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity and blessing me with this great fortune. I will not squander it," he promised, wearing a big black cowboy hat and a huge grin.
Wanless, who is single, lives with his mother and father on the family's 320-acre ranch near Mission, where they raise cattle, sheep and horses. They don't own a phone, a mobile home of theirs was repossessed last year, and records show they have fallen $3,552 behind in their property taxes.
Wanless bought $15 worth of tickets to the May 27 30-state Powerball drawing at a convenience store in Winner during a trip to buy livestock feed. He will take home a lump sum of $88.5 million after taxes are deducted.
The Wanless home stands in a grove of trees in Todd County, home to the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. It was the nation's seventh-poorest county in 2007, according to the Census Bureau.
Dave Assman, who owns farmland next to the Wanless ranch, said he is happy the family won't have to worry about money any more. "They've been real short on finances for a long time," Assman said. "They are from real meager means, I guess you'd say."
"I hope they enjoy their money," said county assessor Cathy Vrbka, a family friend. "They work hard, backbreaking hard work."
Wanless' father, Arlen Wanless, 54, has made a living in recent years mainly by buying and selling scrap metal, but his fortunes dropped with the price of iron, said Dan Clark, an auctioneer from Winner and a friend of more than two decades.
The younger Wanless told lottery officials that he spent the last week working on the ranch and that he intends to continue that lifestyle, albeit on a larger piece of land. According to lottery officials, he recently told his horse, Eleanor, "It'd be nice if we go for a longer ride than usual on a bigger ranch of our own."
"My family has been helped by the community, and I intend to repay that help many times over," Wanless said. He gave no details.
An Oregon family turned $40 worth of tickets into $340 million Powerball prize in 2005, and at least four other winners collected larger jackpots than Wanless' prize.
The store where Wanless bought the winning ticket will get a $50,000 bonus. Sharon Ulmer, manager of the store, said she is glad the Wanless family won.
"From what I understand they don't have a lot, so the money definitely went to a good place," Ulmer said. "I know it went to a good home. They can use it."

We would love to get your answer and thoughts on this so please feel free to leave your comments.You may have more Facebook friends as the years go by, but when it comes to your close friends, you lose about half and replace them with new ones after about seven years, new social research suggests. As a result, the size of your social network stays about the same.
People might like to think they have control over whom they choose as friends, but social networks could also be influenced by the context in which we meet one another. Sociologist Gerald Mollenhorst of Utrecht University in the Netherlands was interested in finding out exactly how much our networks are shaped by social context or by personal preference.
He conducted a survey of 1,007 people ages 18 to 65, and then contacted the participants seven years later. From the original group, 604 people were re-interviewed. The survey contained questions such as: Who do you talk with, regarding personal issues? Who helps you with DIY in your home? Who do you pop by to see? Where did you get to know that person? And where do you meet that person now?
The results showed that personal network sizes remained stable, but that many members of the network were new. About 30 percent of discussion partners and practical helpers had the same position in a typical subject's network seven years later. And only 48 percent were still part of the network. This finding goes against previous research which had showed that social network sizes are shrinking.
Mollenhorst also established that networks were not formed based on personal choices alone. Our friend choices are limited by the opportunities to meet. He saw that people frequently choose friends from a context in which they have previously chosen a friend. Also, whether or not our friends know each other strongly depends on the context under which people meet.
Television viewers were hooked to their television's last night for the first episode of FACTS 3 as Student Designers and Student Spokesmodles showed Guyana and the world their talent on HJTV,While most were anticipating a good show it turn out to be somewhat disappointing. Get the load on this and pics of some of the designs when you As if we couldn't ask for better hosting, the host for the show couldn't even get his words together not to mention the models/spokespersons the for the student designers, yeah their students but a little speech training before you go on NATIONAL television wouldn't hurt.
But they certainly didn't need training on how to flaunt their stuff on the catwalk as they did in those oh so very skimpy ''supposedly'' physical education uniforms.
However, on a lighter note we must say some of the designs where excellent and they were students who actually were being students with their designs and how they were displayed.
