Chris Brown finally Sentenced!!!

chris-brown-courtSo CB finally bites the dust in court! Lets see what happened.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Chris Brown to five years' probation, six months' community labor for the beating of Rihanna and ordered the R&B singer to stay away from his former girlfriend for the next five years. Like that’s gonna happen.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown that he could be sent to state prison if he violated any terms of his sentence, including an order to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna unless they're attending music industry events. Let’s see if they can resist.

A probation report prepared for Tuesday's sentencing describes two previous violent incidents. The first happened about three months before the February beating while the couple was traveling in Europe; Rihanna slapped Brown during an argument, and he shoved her into a wall. In the second instance, Brown allegedly broke the front and passenger side windows on a Range Rover they were driving while visiting Barbados, Rihanna 's home country. Neither attack was reported, the probation report states.

Brown will serve his sentence in his home state — Virginia — and his community labor will be overseen by the police chief in Richmond.

The judge said she wanted to ensure that Brown, 20, performs physical labor instead of community service, such as mentoring young people. He will also undergo a year of domestic violence counseling.

Rihanna did not attend Tuesday's sentencing. I guess she had other more important stuff to do than watch her abuser face the music.

GSB.com EXCLUSIVE: Michael Jackson Death Was a Homicide !!!

Michael Jackson’s death has just been ruled as a homicide, he did not have a heart attack. LaToya said it first and the rest of the bunch agreed. They are about to put Dr. Conrad Murray UNDER THE JAIL if one of MJ’s fans doesn’t lay hands on him first.

The Los Angeles County coroner ruled Michael Jackson’s death a homicide Monday after a search warrant affidavit revealed that Jackson had lethal levels of the powerful anesthetic propofol in his system when he died.

The document unsealed Monday allowed officials to raid the Houston offices and storage facility of Dr. Conrad Murray last month.

According to the warrant, Murray, Jackson’s personal physician, had been treating the singer for insomnia with the sedative for six weeks. According to the document, Murray said he had been trying to wean Jackson off the powerful sedative by using smaller doses in combination with the sedatives lorazepam and midazolam.

On the morning Jackson died, Murray said he tried to induce sleep without using propofol, starting first with valium at 1:30 a.m. When Jackson was still awake at 2 a.m., Murray injected Jackson with lorazepam, then injected him with midazolam at 3 a.m. Murray told police he administered several other drugs over the next few hours.

By 10:40 a.m., Jackson, still unable to sleep, urged Murray to give him propofol. Murray said in court documents that he administered 25 milligrams of the drug at that time, then left Jackson alone under the influence of the drug to make phone calls to his Houston office. When he returned, Jackson was not breathing. He performed CPR while a member of Jackson’s staff called 911. The singer was rushed to UCLA Medical Center where he was declared dead sometime later.

The affidavit says, while Murray acknowledged to police that he administered propofol, authorities find no evidence that he had purchased, ordered or obtained the medication under his medical license or Drug Enforcement Administration tracking number. Police detectives found about eight bottles of the anesthetic in Jackson’s house along with other vials and pills that had been prescribed to Jackson by Dr. Murray, Dr. Arnold Klein and Dr. Allan Metzger.

Valium, lorazepam, clonazepam, tamsulosin and other drugs also were confiscated in the search, and propofol was found in Murray’s medical bag. According to the warrant, Murray told police he was not the first doctor to administer propofol to the singer.

Authorities subpoenaed medical records from Klein, Metzger and Dr. David Adams, in addition to Murray, the affidavit states. They also asked for medical records from Dr. David Slavitt, who conducted the independent medical examination of Jackson for Anschuntz Entertainment Group, Dr. Randy Rosen and nurse practitioner Cherilyn Lee.

The affidavit also states that Jackson told Murray that two doctors in Germany had given him propofol. Murray said he repeatedly asked Jackson what other physicians were treating him and what drugs they were prescribing. Murray said Jackson refused to give the information.

Eddie Neblett Nominated for Four Accolade Awards!

Already owning two Accolade awards for the best male gospel artiste of 2008, Guyanese Eddie Neblett is once again set to hit the spotlight as a four-time nominee for the 2009 music awards.

Known for his infectious hit "Love N Unity" among others, he’s currently in Queens, New York, with Colin Hinds, a member of his management team who is promising much from the Guyanese star. At present he is performing in New York at various Summer shows, and according to his management team, he has an action-packed agenda there for August and September, which can be viewed in the "events" section on his website www.eddieneblett.org.

Eddie's management feels that he is one of the most talented, lyrically-positive, individual singer/songwriters out of Guyana in 30 years. It is believed that he possesses the criteria for worldwide acclaim as his work to date consists of about 20 songs, encompassing every genre, and speaks to positive, conscious issues that resonate with audiences worldwide.

Over the last 8-9 months, Hinds assembled a team, mostly based in USA, which has been working to promote his music to the world.

He says “We have put his music on "www.youtube.com". Most people accessing and listening to music on youtube.com are based overseas and so far there have been at least 110,000 hits on his music on this site.”

When you cut hair from your head and glue it to your face to look older, and to give yourself a chance to be selected by a construction foreman who previously rejected you for a job, then you know how desperate Eddie was to support his family.

The married father of two was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana. His mother brought him up in the church and put him in the choir at the age of seven. As a youth, Eddie simultaneously annoyed and entertained everyone by beating incessantly on sticks and cans as he created his own rhythms. His mom would later urge him to enter and sing in various shows.

One of Eddie's greatest gifts is creating lyrics on the spot to a track that he likes. As he grew in experience, he soon recorded his first song "We can make it" followed by his breakthrough hit "Love N Unity" with its infectious beat, catchy lyrics, and his now famous trademark, rapid-rap style.

He was asked to sing it at the closing ceremony for the 2008 Caribbean Cultural Festival, Carifesta, as well as at the Rio Summit of Latin American leaders, held in Guyana.

Eddie continued to team up with his band of now eight years, Second Coming, to produce what is his favourite song, "Anointed". His major musical influence has been Bob Marley, but his musical talent spans many genres, including reggae, soca and R&B. He has won numerous awards, but none more prestigious than the two Accolade awards in November 2008 for Best Gospel Artist and Song.

He has performed at shows in Brazil with ‘Second Coming’ and also in Barbados, Suriname, St Lucia, St Vincent and Trinidad & Tobago. He was featured with the top gospel reggae band, Christafari, while they performed here.

Eddie has done seven videos and appears frequently on local TV as a spokesperson for GT&T. He is also GT&T's spokesperson and advocate for HIV awareness.

In 2008, Eddie released his compilation album, Prophecies, which features 12 of his original compositions. He is currently working on a new album and is simultaneously performing at numerous concerts/churches in New York City. Eddie's vision is to establish a global presence that will reach millions through his music.

MANAGEMENT OPTIMISMS

The comments left on the video clips on www.youtube.com reflect constant surprise by people abroad that music of this quality is coming out of Guyana. Music lovers from Sweden, Germany, Poland, South Africa, Kenya, Spain, Ireland, England, Canada, USA, Jamaica have been contacting Eddie’s management team with positive comments on his music.

Hinds opined that this proves “how much we have progressed in the last say, 3 years.”

Lion of Zion Records based in California has awarded him "New Artist" status with their sub-division Gospel Reggae, which has begun promoting him on gospelreggae.com.

They have built his personal web-page where his music can be purchased online and also downloaded to MP3 players.

Eddie had the pleasure of being called onstage by Mark Mohr, CEO of Lion of Zion and lead singer of Christafari, at the January show at the National Park to perform a song with the band. Mohr also announced the "signing" to the excited fans.

Eddie is cognizant that the world has shifted and believes that the time is now for a change in how people see their role in the world. He thinks that now is the time to move away from the violent, aggressive lyrics being perpetuated by so many artists and sees himself as "The Conscious Lyricist/Spiritual Artiste". As such his music will continue to reflect that.

Timeka and Busy Signal to launch hot music video before Jamzone!

IMG_0325 IMG_0280

For this August holidays Timeka has switched gears from the one drop tracks for which she has become known to a high energy, sassy and sporty sound. News from Jamaica is that even as she continues her quest to hit the music main stream she’s upped her game yet again with a music video out of the land of reggae and Dance Hall.

A main feature among artistes the likes of Peetah Morgan, Busy Signal, Barbee and Vegas for the Jamzone Dance Hall/ Reggae Splash Timeka is promising much to her local fans.

After several weeks of unofficial play on local and Jamaican radio stations Marshall’s spicy ‘feel fuh’ dancehall single featuring Jamaican artiste Busy Signal is set for official release as a prelude to the inaugural JamZone Summer Break Weekend.

With Feel Fah produced by Shane C Brown of Juke Boxx Productions Timeka demonstrates her vocal range while sparring with Busy Signal.

The video for this, ‘sure party starter’ with all the professional workings included is completed filming and editing in Jamaica and is a contagious must see.

Based on comments from those in the music fraternity the video in terms of location, dancers, choreography and setting is by far more captivating that any video from a Guyanese artiste. It also brings out a side of Timeka never before seen in any of her previous music videos. Showing all the signs of a maturing artiste who is focused on what she wants she breaks into the mode of a dancer and tastefully sexily so.

The video quality is a must see that local artistes should strive for and in some instances it betters any of those produced by local and Caribbean female dance hall singers. The feel good song brings out the energy through superb choreography that appeal to persons of all ages.

Word from Jamaica is that Timeka has been gearing up for summer by recording a number of radio friendly tracks that have started hitting the airwaves.

Fans can listen out for Timeka's deejay skills on Doesn't Matter on the Equiknoxx produced Monkey Business riddim currently in rotation. The Timeka hit list also includes The Way You Love Me from Penthouse and another track from Juke Boxx on the Road Crusher riddim titled Move On.

Earlier in the year, Timeka blasted to the top of the video charts with All Night, produced by Stephen 'Di Genius' McGregor and directed by Jay Will. Timeka followed up with a provocative collaboration with Peetah Morgan on the Juke Boxx produced Indiscretions riddim.

Her Hush track and his Secrets track were combined for a video medley directed by Gareth Cobran. Both tracks demonstrated her skills as a one drop singer.

Timeka's increased production effort is part of a plan coined by her management team Pyramid Music Group and their strategic production associates, Juke Boxx Productions. The Barbados and Jamaican based entities have partnered to guide the career of the Guyanese born singer. Under the terms of the partnership, Pyramid and Juke Boxx will jointly collaborate on the musical and artistic direction of the artiste.

The team has not held back and neither has Timeka. In addition to a slew of releases in Jamaica bound for international recognition, Timeka has several endorsement deals in Guyana, including a major association with GT&T Cellink. Plus she also recently landed an endorsement deal with international eyewear company Oakley. And, later this summer, fans can look out for Timeka in not one, but two new videos.

GSB.com Feature: The Classique Dance Company, Guyana’s most Elite Dance Group!

DSC04633

GSB.com sat down with Paul Charles, dancer at Classique for approximately seven years, as he gave us an insight into the Classique Dance Company.

The  Classique Dance Company was founded on the 7th March, 2000 by Mr. Clive Prowell.

The name “Classique” came from French and it is a combination of the past present and the future.

Classique was initially intended to be an all male dance group but subsequently changed to include female dancers because of the stigma attached to men and dancing, and the fact that a lot of females wanted to join also.

According to Charles, “hopefully” in the future Classique will eventually be an all male dance group some day.

The group which was initially a modern basis dance group, made a change to contemporary dance and also acts as an all rounded dance group catering to a more diverse crowd and is recognised as one of the best dance groups currently.

With successful shows such as Zig Zag, Dance Like You Do and most recent Pitch Black.

DSC04635The members of the Classique Dance Group have proved that they are not just dancers, but they are a bunch of vibrant multi-talented young people who strive for success in all that they do. Just to name a few of the talented youths of Classique; there is Paul who is the Co-Director of Classique and a soloist dancer who has represented Classique for six years. Travis who is also a very talented singer, Ronella is also  an excellent designer, Eon is the stylist, Leslyn is a gifted actress and Melissa who was Miss Guyana Universe 2007 and a professional model. She was recently on the cover of Women’s Magazine last month.

DSC04631The Dance Company recently represented Guyana regionally by participating in a work shop held in Barbados and Trinidad, and was conducted by Mr. Eon Douglas. The dancers are all hoping to attend another workshop being held in Suriname later this year.

When asked if the dance company was ready for the international scene a loud YES was chanted but they are looking for sponsorship. If they do get to represent Guyana at that level the dancers will make their country proud and do their best as they always do.

It is fair to say that the Classique Company is divided into two sections: (1) The dance company which deals with all the performances and productions and (2) The dance school which teaches persons to become dancers at different levels.

DSC04632

To anyone contemplating joining the Classique Dance School you can visit their office at 42 Public Road Kitty or contact them on telephone 592-625-0699 or send your emails to cliveprowell@yahoo.com.

You can be sure to expect more from the Classique Dance Company  in the future that is a new and exciting show called. “The Battle of the Sexes” which is scheduled for the 5th December 2009 at the National Cultural Centre.

BIO: Timeka Marshall

n583690460_3612482_8857 Who would have thought that a simple jingle for a local company would be the start of a music career that seems destined for success? Well that is exactly how young Guyanese singer Timeka Marshall got her break. In 2006 a local telecommunications company staged a competition for their new jingle. Timeka entered and won. This became the springboard for recording her first R&B Single “We Should Separate”, which was released and quickly followed by a music video. Produced by Muzikmedia and shot on location in Jamaica both the track and the video gained popularity on the Caribbean music scene and held their own in heavy rotation on radio and television stations across the region. Yet there was much more to unearth in the way of Timeka’s talents.

After performing “We Should Celebrate” on the Guyanese entertainment circuit to appreciative audiences, Timeka was keen to cultivate her songwriting talents and attended the Barbados Music seminar and Showcase in February 2007. There she blew regional and international music executives away with her obvious talent and enticing sensuality. With just one performance of the gritty dancehall track “Nothing At All”, Timeka was immediately signed to a developmental deal which would see her working with some of Jamaica’s top producers.

Timeka’s commitment and hard work in the initial months she spent in Jamaica has paid off, with the release of two singles – “Free” and “Ice-cream Boy” (a fresh taste on a classic) produced by international reggae producer Clive Hunt and his team of talented musicians. Her relationship with Jamaica and the treasure trove of musicians, directors and producers there continues to grow. As soon as the two singles n583690460_4488664_789were in heavy rotation on Guyana’s airwaves, Timeka returned to Jamaica to continue recording. This dedication is a clear indication of her intention to take her music throughout the region and beyond and add to the growing list of Caribbean artistes who now rank among the international superstars of the entertainment industry. In February, 2008 she was one of the opening acts on Bob Marley’s Tribute concert “Smile Jamaica” in Montego Bay and a string of appearances followed as she continued to hone her performance skills and introduce herself to the Jamaican public.

As Timeka continues to evolve as an artist, she looks set to begin 2009 on as much a high note as how she started her career. She recently shot the music video for her saucy and seductive single “All Night”, with the accomplished Jamaican director Jay Will. The video’s director, known for his creative imagination and a solid body of work behind him, decided on a sizzling concept for the video, to match the steamy theme of the track. This latest single is produced by one of Jamaica’s most prodigious producers, Stephen McGregor, who is known only to work with the most talented within dancehall and reggae music. Yet another feather in Timeka’s cap, she has proven that her music has been accepted regionally, with approval coming from the 6614_217788390460_583690460_7877177_7201465_nnation with arguably the harshest critics. But this intelligent young woman is already acutely aware of how fickle the industry can be, and as such has already landed lucrative endorsement deals. She has been chosen as a spokesperson for the DDL Fritolay brand and in this role she has visited several schools in Guyana impressing on the students the importance of education and HIV/ AIDS awareness. Even in Jamaica, she has embraced the opportunity to empower her peers as evidenced by her acceptance of an invitation from the KLAS radio station to be included on a tour of specific High schools across the country.

The KLAS Teen Jam High School Tour seeks to spread positive messages to young teens as it rolls across the island, with the music which is played along with the artistes who accompany it. The artistes typically perform, share stories with teens, give advice as they sign posters and CD’s. When she’s not in the studio, Timeka can be found gracing the catwalk of numerous fashions shows and is one of the most sought after models in the Guyanese fashion industry. Such is the diversity of her talent. It has barely been two years since winning the jingle competition, yet Timeka has accomplished more in that short time than she could 5058_198425980231_746370231_7603903_2233026_n have imagined. Back in Guyana, she recently won two awards at the Guyana music awards for Best New Artist and Best R&B Artist of the Year. In Jamaica, the country which she has made home within recent months, she has recorded with some of their leading producers and is steadily making waves on the local circuit with her latest single “Love” on the Disturbia rhythm produced by Preston Onfroy.

Following on the heels of veteran musician and producer Eddie Grant, Natural Black and First Born’s reggae success Timeka has begun to reposition Guyana as a viable force on the international music scene. And her work is far from over.

GREATEST DANCEHALL SUPERGROUP, RETURNS WITH THEIR LONG-AWAITED ALBUM!

image001Acclaimed by the New York Times as “the world’s greatest dancehall‐reggae boy band,” T.O.K. ‐ the fearless foursome of Alex, Flexx, BayC and Craigy T.–finally arrive with their third VP Records album Our World , set to be released August 25, 2009.

Combining sweet melodies and taught R&B harmonies with tough toasting skills, T.O.K.’s versatility and unprecedented style have made them arguably the most successful group in dancehall history.

From romping club anthems to stirring one‐drop tunes, T.O.K. delivers a variety of sure‐fire radio hits on their highly anticipated opus Our World. The group covers dancehall’s prerequisites with gal tunes like “Afternoon Pornstar” and bad man talk on “Gangsters Never Die” . Another standout track includes the r&b pop tinged 2008 hit “Guardian Angel”, which despite its shelf life recently became the #1 ringtone in Japan.

The group first tasted stateside success via their 2001 debut album My Crew, My Dawgs and more specifically with international smash single “Eagle’s Cry”, a version of Prince's "When Doves Cry".

In 2005, T.O.K. unleashed their last album Unknown Language which spawned Billboard Top 100 singles "Gal You Lead" and “Footprints”, a tribute dedicated to Alex’s brother who was a victim of a senseless killing. Both of these singles received heavy rotation on crossover radio stations like New York’s Hot 97 and Miami’s Power 96 and on MTV, MTV2 and BET’s 106 & Park. Unknown Language also went Gold in Japan during its first week and quickly went on to sell Platinum.

With their international appeal from Jamaica to Japan, a slew of  crossover singles and a universal sound, there has never been a more fitting title for their forthcoming release ‐ Our World.

Timeka Marshall, the first winner of the competition, now seeking international fame, also hails from Linden.

Last year’s first runner-up RenĂ© Winter is also a Lindener and several young Linden talents have made it to the top ten of the competition over the years. Pattern?

There was some talk brewing around that Boyd the Butcher was over the age limit for the competition, but we guess it was overlooked.

OHH NO !!! Beyonce & Jay-Z Receive Death Threats.

It appears someone is messing around Jigga and his wifey, GSB caught wind of this report and according to a certain website the man isn't scared of anyonebe. Peep the full story below.

Source:

As if the Brooklyn rapper didn't have enough on his hands with The Game and the rising D.O.H. (Death of Hova) campaign. He, along with his wife Beyonce have been the recipients of letters with death threats as the topic.

Leon Desmond Barrett, a native of Detroit, was charged for allegedly sending letters to celebrities such as the rapper and former NFL star Jerome Bettis threatening to kill them. In regards to the NFL, Barrett must have his gripes with them in particular as prosecutors have stated that he has sent over 14 letters to the Hall of Fame and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell from 2006 to now.

A complaint was filed Wednesday in regards to Barrett's alleged misdoings which fueled the investigation.

One letter made reference to the killings that happened at Virginia Tech saying that it will be another massacre similar to the school in Virginia happening in Detroit. Barrett must be a bold individual as it was reported that he penned his signature on the majority of the letters along with his home address. Guess that must mean that he wanted any problems to be brought to his front door step as Local 4 news went to his home to question his letters. A simple reply of “No” was given by Barrett when questioned of having anything to say about the allegations and if he had indeed sent the letters.

The tragedy of 9/11has sent a wave of suspicion throughout the United States government to the degree where mail is heavily investigated. This also stemmed from the letters that were mailed with Anthrax back around 2001. In August 2008, the US Department of Justice made the announcement that they believed Dr. Bruce Ivins was responsible for the attacks.

The Detroit news was able to reveal the message that referenced the celebrities mentioned:

A letter dated Aug. 18, 2007, said: "I'm getting ready to start killing some more people. Beyonce, Jay-Z, Jerome Bettis and Tune-up Man are the first 4 people I'm getting ready to kill."

Although all of the celebrities have been contacted about the letter, there has yet to be a response from any. Barrett has not appeared in U.S. District Court in Detroit yet.

Facebook Puts Stalkers In Check With New App!! Keep An Eye On Who's Watching You!

No need to fret about people getting too in touch with your Facebook profile, the creators now have an application that allows users to see who views their page.

Now there’s a way to find out exactly who’s been checking you out all the time on Facebook: Stalker Check.

While the application falls short of tracking pageviews (which would violate Facebook’s privacy policy), Stalker Check does keep track of your friends’ public interactions – including wall posts, comments, likes, gifts and more – to determine which of your buddies is most, um, interested in your life lately.

Another killer feature: You can also track your friends’ biggest fans. In other words, if you think someone is spending too much time on your significant other’s Facebook page, Stalker Check provides some hard evidence.

Do ya'll like it or NOT ???
