"The king's baaaaack!" That's the latest catch phrase buzzing through Atlanta as news is spreading that T.I. has been released from jail.

As previously reported, T.I. was expected to be released shortly from a federal prison in Arkansas to continue to serve his sentence in a halfway house. Now just six days later, that day has finally come.

The announcement was made official through Grand Hustle executives and affiliates.

Amir Boyd, head of Marketing and Promotions for Grand Hustle, announced it through his Twitter saying,

“The KING is home y'all! Merry Christmas!”

Comedian Lil Duval, who is signed to the Grand Hustle emblem chimed in on the celebration saying,

“#Tipisfree now all u losers ass rappers can clock out GRAND HUSTLE got it from here...”

He also made sure to mention while the King is home, he isn't completely free of the shackles of the legal system. He added,

They Say: Kartel To Be Sued By Caribbean Promoters.

So Kartel think this is school days when he could have just not show up and think everything would be ok...... Well GSB.com has caught wing of various reports which says that local promoters plan to team up with other promoters in the Caribbean to sue Vybz Kartel for his recent spree of no-shows.

His most recent cancelation of a show was right here in Guyana where he was expected to perform at the National Park last Saturday.

Report from Source below:

Irate show promoters in St Lucia and Guyana are planning to sue dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel for a series of no-shows over the weekend. Kartel and members of his Portmore Empire were reportedly booked for a concert in Guyana on Saturday night, after which they should have moved on to St Lucia to perform on the last evening of a three-day event called Love Fest.

Reports are, however, that while some members of the Empire turned up, Kartel missed his flight to Guyana, not once, but twice, after which the promoter was asked to send a charter. According to one report, this was done, but the plane sat on the tarmac on Saturday and the deejay refused to leave Jamaica. Conscious Minds Promotions in Guyana reportedly suffered tremendous losses when they were forced to cancel the show. The Sunday Stabroek in Guyana noted that "a press release advised that persons who purchased tickets for the show will receive full refunds beginning Tuesday at all ticketing locations".

The promoters are quoted as saying, "We again express our deep regret at the disappointment that our supporters must feel and pledge that we will make good with other promotions."

Meanwhile, the St Lucia promoter Andrew Hayles, in an interview last evening with the Observer, said that he had spent over US$20,000.00 on plane fare just to ensure that Kartel would be present for his show, Love Fest, which has built up a solid reputation during its eight years.

"Naturally, the Guyana promoter and myself have been communicating, since I was supposed to bring Kartel in from there. So those tickets went down the drain. Then I made direct contact with Kartel and he told me to send two first-class tickets for him and Jahvinci to travel from Jamaica. At 11:00 pm on Saturday we got the travel agent to open up her business place so we could purchase the tickets. Then plans changed and we were asked to get a charter and this was done. Then the next thing we know we hear on Sunday that Kartel had posted a statement on YouTube saying that he was not attending Love Fest in St Lucia and it was not the promoter's fault," Hayle said, still sounding bemused at all that had transpired.

A quick look at YouTube shows a 33-second clip with Vybz Kartel who identifies himself and then goes on to say "we a mek the people dem know from now that we won't be attending Love Fest in St Lucia ... but it's no fault of the promoters or the promotion which is Hot FM ... it's just circumstances beyond our control."

Hayles said he was aware that there were some "security issues and threats" and he had assured the deejay that he would have been closely guarded throughout his visit to the island.

"And then he doesn't even get in contact with us ... somebody told us that there was a statement on YouTube and that's how we knew that he was not going to take the charter. Well, we promoters have aligned ourselves, we have spread the word, we have even contacted BBC 1Xtra. And we are going to sue Kartel for our money. He charged us US$25,000.00 and he was paid his 50% deposit. We have to deal with Kartel," Hayles said.

He stated, however, that the concert would go on last night since there were other big names on the bill. However those persons who wanted a refund would be accommodated.

It was in May this year that Kartel was banned from Grenada for the event, Rap-it-Up, which was to mark the official launch of his Daggerin condoms in that island. Government officials reportedly refused to issue a work permit because of his violent lyrics.

Vanilla Working HARD On Making A Name for Herself...

GT's very own road march Queen Vanilla is still out there and she is not stoping for no one, Vanilla recently had a sit down with Kaiture News reporter Mondale Smith.

And dished out all that she has been up to and what she has plan for Mashramani 2010.

It seems that there are simply no boundaries for young Guyanese daughter Melissa Vanilla Roberts. The two times Road March Queen and second place winner in this year’s Soca Monarch competition is now a Certified “International Sports Science Association” trainer with an outstanding 86% in her final exams. This is the latest in a series of successes for Vanilla this year.

She has been pretty low profile after Mashramani and with good reason too. Thanking her supporters, she successfully completed her first aid and Adult CPR courses, placed second in this year’s Miss Body Fitness competition and has established ‘V Fitness,’ an entity dedicated to providing personal training services.

Vanilla also completed The University of Guyana/ Ohio University Television production Workshop a three week programme hosted by the two Universities and saw attendance by many media operatives.

The question that has been asked often enough is whether she was still pursuing a singer career? The answer is yes. She has recently released a single titled ‘Pressure’ which is played regularly on local radio and is receiving steady rotation in the Caribbean. In addition Vanilla will be releasing three new songs and supporting videos for Mash 2010. She also has five songs on an album “Tropical Caribbean Party” featuring fifteen tracks produced by Kross Kolor Artistes and released in Amsterdam/ Holland September 2009.

What’s next for this lady? She is eagerly looking forward to entering the Soca Monarch and Road March competitions come 2010. She is also enjoying applying her skills she recently acquired to filming and editing the new video releases by KKR and generally getting set to pursue her many and varied ambitions.

Finnally Gaza And Gully Feud Put To An End....

Dancehall stars Mavado and Vybz Kartel have given the Government a commitment to end their lyrical feud, which has spilled over into violent clashes on the nation's streets.

The two are leaders of the groups known as Gaza and Gully and their supporters have been at odds since 2006.

Yesterday, the dancehall stars used a meeting with three government ministers at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to announce an end to the derogatory lyrics they have traded, while calling on their supporters to end the fuss.

"I never throw a stone at Vybz before and he never did the same to me. It is just about music but ... we have the fans out there and people take it to a different level, so me and Vybz will have to talk to these fans and do things to mend the situation," Mavado, whose correct name is David Brooks, told the ministers.

Upcoming collaboration

He was supported by Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer who announced plans for the two artistes to collaborate on another track shortly.

"People need to realise that David and I have never had any personal animosity over the years. Sometimes people take things out of context, especially impressionable minds," Kartel said in obvious reference to the school gangs which have engaged in some violent clashes because of their links to either 'Gaza' or 'Gully Side'.

The two DJs were summoned to the OPM yesterday where they met Information Minister Daryl Vaz, National Security Minister Dwight Nelson; Minister of Education, Andrew Holness; head of the Peace Management Initiative, Bishop Herro Blair; chairman of the National Transformation Programme, Reverend Al Miller, among others.

Measures to deal with tension

Following the meeting, Vaz announced that five measures have been developed to deal with the tension related to the Gaza/Gully conflict.

These include a paint-out day where the Gully/Gaza graffiti will be replaced, a joint song to appeal for an end to the violence, a t-shirt with images of both artistes and a peace concert.

"I must say that the meeting was very amicable and all have agreed and resolved to have this matter put behind us," Vaz said.

The Government called the two dancehall stars to talks after several groups expressed concerns about the impact of their lyrical feud on communities across the island.

Hits & Jams Collects Tourism Award...

“This is both a privilege and an honour to us as a young group and it will certainly serve as a motivator to us. We hope other entertainment providers will be motivated to up their game to make Guyana a Tourism/Entertainment hub.”

These were the words of Hits and Jams Director Kerwin Bollers after he joined his brother Dwight, and good friend Kerwin Bollers, to receive the award for “Mega Entertainment Promoters” at this year’s Tourism Awards ceremony.

The event was held recently at the Guyana International Conference Centre.

The group is high in praise for corporate Guyana and the thousands of local fans who believe in their ventures and continually support them.

“Like every other group we started promoting to make money and even when we did not make any we were heartened that the people were happy and satisfied from the heart.

“We promoted then for everyone and will continue to offer entertainment and tourism attractions and opportunities to develop the entertainment industry for everyone and at the same time show that there is more to Guyana than negativity,” said Rawle Fergusson.

Remaining humble, the group said years ago “if we were told that we would be receiving a Guyana Tourism Ministry award we would have laugh but here we are and are even more motivated with this recognition.”

Over the years aside from promoting international stage shows featuring the crème de la crème of international acts they have also served as brokers for many other promoters to access international artistes. Further the group is also the lone promotions outfit that manages a television station that provides 24 hours of local and international entertainment.

Hits and Jams has also produced and maintained probably the most lucrative and largest mass-based supported tourism event - the Jamzone Summer Break Weekend and the Miss Jamzone pageant.

The rationale behind the award is that Hits and James group from a private perspective has organized and promoted mega events locally at levels that are yet to be paralleled by any other local promotions group.

Tourism Ministry officials recognise Hits and Jams as being the most innovative and creative international/local organizers who continue to churn out international events on the local shores

Lucky Teen Grabs Large Amount of Cash In The Digicel Merry Mansion...

Ranole Bourne, age 18, of Durban Street Wortmanville missed a few hours of his prom night last week but has more than 100,000 reasons to celebrate nonetheless. He was one of five who were selected in the first batch to search the Merry Mansion for $1Million cash and managed to find seven envelopes.

In those envelopes his cash totaled $146,000. As the person who found the most cash he qualifies to be in the Merry Mansion for another search next week. A exhausted but beaming Bourne said: “The search was kinda tricky because it was first time search but next week I will be finding much more.” This was minutes before heading off to prepare for his prom. The Richard Ishmael graduate gained passes in seven subjects at the 2009 Caribbean Examinations Council.

Other cash finders were Lynette David who found $105,000 and said she has already topped up with $500 and has also received her message as being in the Digicel pool for likely selection to the top fifteen for the next search.

Kim McCalmont represented her daughter and found $40,000. As she waved the cash she said “I’ll be topping up even more now with my phone cause with Digicel you always win and I want to search this time for me self.”

Berbician Pertab Singh found $65,000 and said he will be using the money to assist with ongoing construction of his house. “Buddy, the search was exciting and me gun be topping up even more cause they got a lot of millions to win and I could do with it to finish me house.”

Winston Gonsalves searched and found $11,000 cash and he said:“This going towards buying credit for sure because I now leave with $11,000 that I did not come with that thanks to Digicel.”

Over all the competitors won in excess of $367, 000 leaving in excess of $632,500 that will be added to next week’s Merry Mansion search.

For the next show, searchers will be looking for $1, 132,500 in the Merry Mansion. Digicel official say that the competition is one of the company’s many ways of giving back to its supporters. In addition to the cash that they found, all five of the participants were presented with new Nokia E63 internet ready cellular phone handsets. Persons qualify for a chance to be in the Merry Mansion simply by topping up their Digicel phones to the value of $500 credit while post paid customers as asked to pay their bills on time to qualify. Fifteen persons are selected randomly through a computerized process via a live show on NCN and qualify to visit the mansion but with the help of Santa clause and his elf only five make it into the mansion where millions of dollars can be found.

Whitney Huston Totally Forgotten At Grammy Nomination Ceremony......DISRESPECTFUL ?!?!?...Discuss

Gtshowbiz.com just had to bring this to our readers attention, one diva who was somewhat surprisingly shut out from being nominated at the 52 Annual Grammy Nomination ceremony that was held last Wednesday, was onetime Grammy sweetheart Whitney Houston.

The Grammy committee usually loves comeback stories. Whether it's artists who left the spotlight for a while and then returned with a vengeance (Bonnie Raitt, Natalie Cole, Tina Turner), veterans who reinvented their careers by collaborating with other musicians (Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Robert Plant), or artists who struggled with their demons and made great music as a result (Dixie Chicks, Amy Winehouse), such rising-from-ashes back stories usually strongly resonate with industry voters.

In this regard, Whitney Houston's "comeback" album I Look To You--released after the singer's long hiatus, divorce from Bobby Brown, and infamous battles with drugs seemed a shoo-in for multiple nominations.

Her record label Arista seemed so sure of Whitney's chances, in fact, that it moved her album release date up in order for it to qualify for this year's voting window. But Whitney was actually completely shut out, with NO nominations whatsoever not only was she snubbed in the major categories like Album Of The Year, but even in the secondary Pop and R&B categories.

This was a shock considering her Grammy history of 24 nominations and six wins, including winning Album Of The Year and Record Of The Year in 1994.

Many industry people and fans alike are wondering why Whitney was overlooked this time. Some say it might have been all the hype. From the moment it was announced that Whitney would be releasing her first original studio album in seven years, the Arista promo machine went into overdrive with Whitney hosting a star-studded listening party with her longtime mentor, Arista honcho Clive Davis (at which Clive reminded everyone of Whitney's millions and millions of albums sold), and doing a headline-garnering Oprah interview about her struggles.

And it seemed many were rooting for her, with I Look To You debuting at #1 with more than 300,000 units sold in its first week (it has sold about 800,000 as of this writing), but the hype was still a little overwhelming.

But then there was Whitney's series of somewhat disappointing, poorly received performances on Good Morning America, The X Factor, and Dancing With The Stars, on which her now-hoarse voice was a mere shadow of its former glory, that much we will admit, and many started to doubt that this was much of a comeback at all. Perhaps the Grammy voters doubted it as well. Guess Whitney will just have to settle for the lifetime-achievement "International Artist" trophy she picked up at last month's American Music Awards.

We think it's somewhat disrespectful...but yall tell us what yall think.

Discuss.......

Kartel ‘Keep the Peace Fest’ To Be Held Next Friday For School Children.......To show other side

Lovers of the vibes dished by Vybz Kartel and his Portmore Empire will get a second serving on the local shores on next Saturday December 12 at the National Park. However while many have voiced strong objection to the lyrical content of some of the artiste’s songs the Kartel camp is reporting that it’s just for entertainment purposes.

Reports from promoters Conscious Minds and Hits and Jams are that if all goes well School children in uniform may be treated to a free ‘Vybz Kartel Keep the peace concert’ next Friday at a venue to be announced. Sources in the promoters camp say the show is being organised to help erase the many myths associated gangs that has cause many youths to become violent.

Word from the Kartel Camp is that gaza will be coming in a positive way for all to enjoy themselves regardless of their choosing.

Word from promoters is that “if the ‘keep the peace’ concert is pulled off on Friday with input from at least one ministry and several Non Government Organizations it will be the stage from which the air will be cleared and abetter understanding would be had regarding the Gully/ Gaza story.”

One of the promoter said “The show which will be strictly for school children in uniform will clear up the myths and will emphasise that the talk is nothing more than entertain.”

The promoter said too that they are “working with some NGO to ensure that Kartel and his team meet, interact with and share conversation on school children related issues and education. The pre-show will also be used as a mini-fair to promote education, HIV and Aids awareness, anti crime discussions and to continue spreading positive vibes”.

The official show dubbed a December to remember is slated for December 12.

GSB.com caught wind of a report in which Rihanna said she hasn't spoken to her dad in awhile and doesn't really wanna see him,

Also Rihanna’s father said recently that he has not spoken to his daughter in over a year and he is hurting for cash:

Ronald Fenty says the star – who will perform on X Factor tonight – has refused to speak to him following a row. They had a bust-up when Rihanna, 21, discovered her dad was drunk ahead of a gig and last week she said: “I haven’t been in touch with my dad for a year and a half… by his choice. “He came on tour and acted a mess. We sent him home and after that he didn’t answer my calls.”

Ronald, 56, is upset by his daughter’s claims and is desperate to be part of her life again. The penniless father of five said from Barbados: “Robyn (Rihanna’s real name) is going around saying I don’t want to be in touch with her. “I leave messages for her but I never hear back. I want nothing more in this world than to see my daughter again and to be part of her life. “I speak to my children every day and to have gone so long without speaking to Robyn is heartbreaking. I am very distressed about it.”

He added: “What makes it all the more sad is our argument was over nothing. I had been on her tour for four weeks and things were fantastic. “But in Chicago I got drunk before a gig – I acted like a jerk. “I remember Robyn being really upset and saying‚ ‘Dad, you are going home.’ One of her assistants put me on a plane back to Barbados. I have not seen or heard from Robyn since.”

He added: “I just want to send a message to her to say, ‘I’m sorry and I love you.’” The row comes after Rihanna – whose hits include Umbrella and Disturbia – forgave her dad for his crack cocaine use which she had to witness as a nine-year-old. He told the Sunday Mirror last year of his shame, and how he split from Rihanna’s mum Monica and became estranged from his daughter. But Rihanna, who has sold 12 million records worldwide, later gave her dad a second chance, inviting him on tours and taking him to award ceremonies.

Ronald added: “I know, having regained her trust, I let her down badly by getting drunk.” The worlds of Rihanna, who has a million-pound pad in Los Angeles, and Ronald, who lives in his aunt’s modest home, could hardly be more different. He works seven days a week selling tacky toys, perfume and household items from the back of a car in Bridgetown. At night, he works at a factory.

When Rihanna appears on X Factor tonight, she will walk on stage as one of the most successful female pop stars on the planet. Last week, she was named Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine and has invited mum Monica and younger brothers Rorrey and Rajad, to the awards bash in New York – but snubbed her dad. Ronald added: “The nearest I get to seeing Robyn now is when she is on programs like X Factor or awards shows.”

“I watch her and what she is doing and am so proud. But whatever people may think I am not interested in Robyn’s money or fame. I just want to be a dad and a friend to her. “I have heard through other family members that she is going to be in Barbados for Christmas and I want nothing more than to see her again.” Rihanna’s secret heartache with her dad comes at the end of a turbulent year for the R&B singer. In February, her face was left battered and bruised following a vicious assault by her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, 20.

The singer got five years probation and was ordered to serve community service. Rihanna’s new album – Rated R – which is released tomorrow includes the song Cold Case Love, which is thought to be about her assault by Brown.

She will sing her new single Russian Roulette in front of Simon Cowell and 15 million viewers tonight.
