Some would call it a highly anticipated wait while other just wouldn't care, However the self proclaimed 'Gully God' is here and he is all ready to set things ablaze. Mavado plans to set the stage of the National park ablaze on Saturday September 19, 2009 at the 'UNFORGIVEN' concert.
Mavado arrived at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on the evening of Thursday last at about 10:45pm.
Soon after the Jamaican artiste and his band arrived, a press briefing was held to give him a warm welcome to this beautiful land .Mavado confirmed that he would be looking forward to performing live for his many Guyanese fans when he stated " I can't wait to get on the stage…I'm here to give the people my best and of course what they want".
Mavado also declared that he has always been overcoming obstacles with his music and appreciates the support he is receiving from his Guyanese fans despite the 2008 incident between himself and the local government and he is most appreciative of the 2008 ban on him has being lifted.
He also went on record to say that he considers himself as a music ''transporter''delivering good vibes to fans worldwide and added that people should not let music lead their lives, meaning music is not all about today, but we have to remember about tomorrow and fans should know its not about war, people should be uniting with his music.
The promotional team is comprised of the management of Modern Hotel in Bartica and Slingerz Entertainment who both promises more entertaining performances for Guyana in helping to boost its tourism industry.
On the other side of news: Mavado's passport was taking away at the airport after landing which got him seemingly pissed and he reacted by asking that all be removed from his sight which also caused some sectins of the crowd who were present to boo him.
